On 5 December 2018, the CTIVD announced it would conduct an investigation into the application of filters in investigation-related interception by the General Intelligence and Security Service (AIVD) and the Military Intelligence and Security Service (MIVD).

This investigation, together with the investigation into the selection method in investigation-related interception, will be conducted following the results of the baseline measurement of investigation-related interception from satellite and radio communications, as included in the progress report published by the CTIVD on 4 December 2018. In its investigations, the CTIVD will address the way in which the requirement to use the power in as focused a manner as possible and the obligation to reduce data are met.
