On 5 December 2018, the CTIVD announced it would conduct an investigation into the method of selection in investigation-related interception by the General Intelligence and Security Service (AIVD) and the Military Intelligence and Security Service (MIVD).

This investigation, together with the investigation into the application of filters in investigation-related interception, is conducted following the results of the baseline measurement of investigation-related interception from satellite and radio communications, as included in the progress report published by the CTIVD on 4 December 2018. In its investigation, the CTIVD will address the way in which the requirement to use the power in as focused a manner as possible and the obligation to reduce data are met.
